Meet the Committee
Christchurch UKIP is blessed with a committee of compatible and competent people, who get on well together. We share the tasks and with some passion, the belief that this Nation should get out of the EU.
BRIEF CV's OF THE CHRISTCHURCH UKIP COMMITTEE
Rollo Reid
Branch Chairman
Rollo was born in Hertford, was brought up in the UK, France, the USA, then UK again. He went to school in Dorchester, then Birmingham University. He joined the TA, did parachuting and armour attachments.
He
joined the Royal Engineers, where he led an Armoured Engineer Troop on the
border with East Germany at the time of the Prague uprising; then Singapore,
where most of the work consisted of building roads, villages and bridges
in the Malayan jungle. After this he attended a long technical course at
Chatham, which included two years attachment to the US Army Corps of Engineers,
and became a Chartered Civil Engineer. Then Germany again, with stints in
Northern Ireland. After this Rollo returned to Chatham as a Technical Instructor.
In 1976, he joined the Family Company, Reidsteel which exports Steel Buildings around the world. He has been involved in buildings in over 130 countries over the last 28 years, and has travelled to most of them. It is the difficulty of helping to run a business and to design steel structures, when hampered by EU regulation and the coming mandatory Eurocodes, that made Rollo join UKIP.
When Allan Tallett stood down as branch chairman Rollo was elected into the Chair. His Aim? To get Britain OUT of EU.
Rollo is the County Councillor Candidate for Christchurch Central.
Pam McAlester
Vice Chairman
Originally from Cheltenham, Pam grew up in Barbados after her father retired from the Army. Pam was packed off to school in England as a teenager, before becoming a nurse during the war years, at the prestigious London, Barts Teaching Hospital.
Pam married into the Army, set up a Florist business with her daughter
and joined the Federation of Small Businesses soon after it had started,
becoming Secretary then Chairman, of the Wessex Region of the FSB, then
National Chairman, in 1985.
This position resulted in Pamela working many times inside number 10 Downing
Street!!
Politically, Pam was a member of the Conservative Party until 2002, joined the Christchurch UKIP Branch in 2005, then the Bournemouth East Branch due to a change of address, before becoming homesick and returned to her rightful place, back in the Christchurch Branch in early 2009 when she was quickly elected as Vice Chairman.
Pam was Chairman of the Conference Committee, for the UKIP Political Party
Conference in September 2008 at the Bournemouth International Centre and
also represents the Christchurch UKIP Branch on the newly formed Dorset
County Branch of UKIP.
Allan Tallett
Membership Secretary
Allan Tallett served all of his working life with the Royal Air Force, as a night-fighter pilot for several years in the UK and Germany before training as a flying instructor and serving as the Chief Instructor at No 3 Flying Training School at RAF Leeming and then as commanding officer of the Republic of Singapore Air Force Flying Training School at Changi.
In between times, he served in Vietnam and Yugoslavia as naval and air attache and at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell where he was responsible for the basic training of all RAF officers.
After retiring from the RAF, he served as an Investigating Officer in the Ministry
of Defence before finally retiring to Dorset in 1997.
He served for 3 years as the Christchurch Branch Chairman, during which
the membership grew considerably, and the Party did well in European Elections.
He remains committed to Getting Britain out of the EU.
Allan is the the County Councillor Candidate for St Leonards and St Ives.
Tom Linnington
Branch Secretary
Tom Linnington worked in Industry as a Physicist for 32 years. In Tom's words, 'It was obvious that all three major Parties were committed to reducing this great Nation into a subservient collection of Regions in the European State'; so he joined UKIP, the only voice available for getting out of the EU. He wanted to do all he could to help, and allowed himself to be co-opted in to the Committee of Christchurch UKIP, where he was later persuaded to become Branch Secretary.
Brian Hogger
Brian is the County Councillor Candidate for Mudeford and Highcliffe.
David Butt
David is the County Councillor Candidate for West Moors and Holt.
Ric Johnson
Ric
is a retired local government officer with 25 years experience,
he moved with his family to Christchurch in 2000 to care for his
parents, who lived in Fairmile. He has an active interest in local issues
such as the enforced closure of Kelly’s Kitchen against the wishes of the
majority of residents. The loss of many local businesses is evident by the
number of empty properties in the town and surrounding area, so why enforce
the closure of another business?
Ignoring of local opinion is sadly all too common nowadays with European/Central
Government, County and Local Councils disregarding the wishes of the Community
they are meant to serve.
It’s time to take back our independence.
Ric is the County Councillor Candidate for Christchurch Commons.
Howard Bailey
Webauthor
Howard started his working life in 1970 at the Ministry of .Defence Navy, Plymouth, as a Naval Architect and later, volunteered to be part of the Polaris Submarine design team at Foxhill, Bath, proudly helping to ensure our independent nuclear deterrent. Defence spending was drastically cut so in 1984 he looked for a little bit of adventure and joined the Dorset Police force, sometimes the adventure was a bit more than he had bargained for! serving the community mainly in Bournemouth & Christchurch, retiring to Christchurch in 2007.
Politically, like a lot of people, Howard was too busy earning a living and bringing up a family to worry about politics, but decided 'Enough is enough' when he saw that too high a proportion of MP's appear to treat the electorate with contempt and display nothing 'honourable' about their behaviour, leaders must lead by example.
Some policies appear to be written solely for the benefit of minority groups, resulting in minority views being imposed upon the majority, that can never be right nor desirable. Am I alone in thinking that common sense, the three R's, politeness, decent thoughts and behaviour etc. appear to be rapidly disappearing? Too many people want total freedom to do as they wish but without the reponsibility that should accompany that freedom.
The time has come for the voting public to act, so please join and more importantly VOTE for UKIP, the only party offering a realistic long term alternative, for a future decided by concensus not dictated by unelected Eurocrats.
Please help us to put the Great back into Britain, if that is in your heart, we will win.
Christchurch UKIP is always on the lookout for more enthusiasts
to join the committee, or stand for elected positions on Councils etc.
Please let us know if you would like to take part.
