REGIONS WE SHOULD GET OUT OF THE EU - FAST!§ Since the Treaty of Rome, the EU has been trying to abolish all democracy at local and national level. Regionalisation is one of the tools the EU is using. All government is steadily being carved up into regions run by civil servants, stakeholders like charities and trade unions, and loads of opaque ‘partnerships’. These oligarchies are NOT run by elected representatives of the people. § The UK is divided into 12 regions, London, the Southwest, the South East, East and West Midlands, Eastern region, Yorkshire and the Humber, the Northwest, the North East, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. All must have offices in Brussels, but none have offices in our national capital, London. They also have offices in many countries round the world. Who pays? We do. The only way to stop paying is to GET OUT OF THE EU. § Europe is also divided into huge regions crossing National Borders, over 70 of them, designed to break down national boundaries. Britain has two Border Regions so far. Transmanche includes Kent with part of France and Belgium across the Channel in one unit administered from Normandy. Region Rives-Manche unites East Sussex with Seine Maritime and the Somme. § Our own Council and the County Council send money and staff to the Regional Authority. Who pays? We do. County councils are paying for their own demise and local councils are becoming sub regions of the EU. How to stop this? Only one way: GET OUT of the whole EU process. § 78 per cent of voters in the North East said No to an elected regional assembly. But the assembly continues to do business unelected. It spends our money and destroys democracy. Get OUT OF THE EU.
