The French and the Dutch were given a chance to vote for or against the new EU constitution. We were promised a referendum, too. But the Government has used the French and Dutch rejections of the Constitution as a excuse not to have a vote here. We have never had a vote on the European Union; the only referendum we had was whether to continue in the EEC, a trading association which promised never to impinge on our Independence and Sovereignty.
